Healthy
Lifestyle Expo
The MCM Healthy Lifestyle Expo, presented by Aetna,
will be held over two fitness-filled days, Saturday,
May 17, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday,
May 18, from 6:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Located at
the Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center,
this FREE event is open to the public and will feature
more than 60 booths and interactive centers for
enjoyment by an expected 20,000 runners and guests.
Packet Pick-up
All participants in the Marine Corps Historic Half
will be required to attend Packet Pick-up, located
within the Healthy Lifestyle Expo, to retrieve their
bib, t-shirt and race materials. Runners will need
their e-confirmation card, emailed as part of registration,
and a photo ID.
Runners are highly encouraged to pick up their
own race packet, to verify information and prevent
race day hassles. However, if a participant must
have a friend or family member pick up the packet,
they will need the following: a letter from the
runner giving permission for someone else to receive
the packet, the E-Confirmation card, and the ID
of the person picking up the packet.
Packet Pick-up is not available on race morning.

Pasta Party
Runners can carb-load for the Marine Corps Historic
Half at the Pasta Party in the Fredericksburg Expo
& Conference Center Ballroom beginning at 5:00
p.m. on Saturday, May 17. Featuring guest speaker
Katherine Switzer, the pasta dinner is $30 and features
a selection of pasta and sauces.
Best known as the woman who challenged the all-male
tradition of the Boston Marathon, Katherine Switzer
became the first woman to officially enter and run
the event. Her entry created an uproar and worldwide
notoriety when race officials tried to forcibly
remove her from the competition. Three decades later,
the incident continues to capture the public imagination
and is, in part, the reason Switzer has dedicated
her multifaceted career to creating opportunities
and equal sport status for women. That career has
included creating programs in 27 countries for over
1 million women that lead to the inclusion of the
women's marathon as an official event in the Olympic
Games, changing forever the face of sports, health
and opportunities for women around the world.
